In the 2nd fifty percent from the third century, Ancyra was invaded in swift succession from the Goths coming through the west (who rode much into the guts of Cappadocia, getting slaves and pillaging) and later on through the Arabs. For about a decade, the town was on the list of western outposts of one of Palmyrean empress Zenobia during the Syria
